Back in the good old days of 1965, a custom 1947 Jeep, sporting a 289 Ford engine and 14” Terra tires, would be seen driving around Boise Idaho. The creator of this master piece made his own roll bar, cage kit, top, seats, bumpers, and everything else unique to the Jeep. Each item, made or purchased, was taken into his house and thoughtfully hand polished to perfection. Soon everyone wanted him to ‘DO’ their jeep up just like his! As if this was not enough to keep the man occupied, he was also custom building Harley’s (mostly Choppers).

Though some thought the man crazy for putting 14” Terra tires on a Jeep, it didn’t stop him from building accessories to create the best looking off-road vehicles around. Others wanted their rigs to resemble his vision and so he started making accessories for their Jeeps in his garage.

Within a year’s time, and while working two other jobs, he was able to open a little store on Chinden Blvd called, “Buck’s ‘4’ Wheeler”. Soon after, a shop was built behind the store. Finally! An indoor space to work in -- away from the snow, rain, or blistering sun (depending on the season). With all of this going on, it was amazing that he still found time to go jeeping out in the desert or up in the hills.

During all of this work and play, little kids appeared -- Toni, Jeff, and David. Each one spent growing-up time in a banana box in the back room while Mom and Dad were working in the shop. His three kids literally ‘grew up’ in the back room of a ‘4 wheel drive shop’. This master mind of the off-road Lynn Buck, or ‘Buck’ as he is fondly called, has had a lifetime of jeeping with family and friends. This passion for building and playing is shared by his three kids and continues on today at “Bucks 4x4 Off-Road Center”.

Today, even the grandkids come down and help at the shop!
